When the Israelites reject God’s rule over them and demand a king in 1 Samuel they end up with Saul, a poor choice who becomes obsessed with killing David out of fear of losing his throne. However, nothing can stop David, a man after God’s own heart, from taking his rightful place as king and ultimately setting up the lineage for the King of Kings Jesus Christ.
